As a group we decided that for our us to achieve the best grade possible it would be in our best interest to change the genre for our music video. We all managed to come to the conclusion that although we liked the Rap/Hip Hop style music us as people who are going to feature in the music video do not actually look like Rap artists. As I also mentioned in my previous post we was struggling to find a song that we could make a music video to therefore it seemed the right decision to change.
Our new idea is an Indie/Rock band we felt that as a group we could portray this image a lot better. Although this may not be our strongest category of music we did have some small knowledge on a few bands which we wanted to base our idea on such as Arctic Monkeys and Kasabian however as we were rather new with this genre we had to carry out some band research which I feel has benefitted us a lot and has definitely gave us a better idea on a few things such as band image , personality and lifestyle.
When conferring with the group we all agreed that we looked a lot more like indie artists and could portray the image a lot better. We all have a lot more of the clothes that they wear for example skinny jeans , denim and leather jackets , baggy tees therefore when shooting the video and also the photos for album covers this will come as a benefit for us.
As an Indie/Rock band we understand that instruments are a big part of their performances therefore it is important that when we are filming our video that we try to feature shots of the band using instruments such as drums and guitars. Although indie rock artists are not all about their image as they are more focused on producing music unlike pop artists who would be promoting their image it is still very key that we represent the image as good as possible and feature the right costume and props which I have spoken about.
